WaveAnalyzer™ 1500B – optimized for high precision transceiver testing!
The WaveAnalyzer 1500B is the latest member of the Coherent family of high-resolution optical spectrum analyzers. This unit covers the entire C+L wavelength range with a resolution bandwidth of about 180 MHz and a high scan speed of up to 10 sweeps per second. An internal frequency reference unit guarantees an absolute frequency accuracy of better than 100 MHz – which is less than 0.8 pm! Similar as the other members of the WaveAnalyzer family, this unit also works with coherent detection technology.
The WaveAnalyzer 1500B has been recognized with a 4.5-star rating in the 2025 Lightwave+BTR Innovation Reviews.
The WaveAnalyzer 1500B has been designed with a special focus on transceiver test applications. It allows verifying various parameters which previously required using multiple separate instruments:
- A precise measurement of the spectral shape including carrier lines and modulation sidebands is enabled by the very fine resolution of about 180 MHz.
- The Optical Signal to Noise Ration (OSNR) can be measured with great accuracy which eliminates the need to use a separate instrument for this parameter.
- The absolute frequency accuracy of less than 100 MHz enables frequency calibration and verification of the transceivers without using an additional wavelength meter.
- The high measurement repetition rate of up to 10 sweeps per second ensures high throughput of devices on the manufacturing floor.
WaveShaper 500B covering the Super-C plus Super-L Band
The WaveShaper 500B is available in a new version covering the entire Super-C plus Super-L band in a single instrument! The total coverage is 12.5 THz which is more than 103 nm!
The WaveShaper 500B allows arbitrary filtering of the amplitude. This makes it an ideal tool for the R&D department as well as for the production floor. In particular applications like gain equalization and channel selection in DWDM transmission schemes are well covered. The instrument is supported by the WaveShaper App and also includes a Web-based User Interface. Automation and remote-control requirements are covered through the HTTP based RESTful API.

WaveShaper 1000A/SP with very fine optical resolution
Coherent has released a special WaveShaper with extra-fine optical resolution. A minimum resolution bandwidth of about 5 GHz (FWHM) is provided in the C-Band which is about half the bandwidth of what has been provided to date. This instrument supports arbitrary filtering of attenuation and phase and is equipped with polarization maintaining (PM) fibers. The instrument has been designed for upcoming new Laser Pulse Shaping applications in the femto- and low picosecond domain.
